We complain during the annual budget debates, we grit our teeth at tax time, but we don’t go further. We stop… we stop being curious about tax. We unknowingly accept the status quo that has enveloped us since our first paycheck. We don’t dig deeper and ask the hard questions… who does our current taxation system serve? Does it incentivise economic and personal freedom and entrepreneurship or does it hinder true growth?
“Life without Taxes” was produced for the everyday Australian. Its goal is to re-ignite the curiosity around tax and to spark an open and apolitical debate. It aims to give Australians hope again and to show that principles of good taxation really are so simple that everyone can understand them.
It’s a serious topic but it’s handled in a fast paced format with a humorous and irreverent edge. The youth in Australia currently has both the most to lose and the least concern for tax matters… a dangerous combination. “Life without Taxes” helps to engage this vital demographic by utilizing a young charismatic presenter, eye-catching animations and crazy stories and facts.
In “Life Without Taxes” we look closely at historical examples to show how tax has shaped civilisation for the last 6000 years. We look at how other countries have very different tax systems to our own and we discover nations where citizens have a strong voice in their country’s tax planning laws. We highlight globally relevant principles of good taxation and dissect the everyday forgotten taxes that stalk us daily.
Our political class tries to convince us that economics and taxation are far too complicated to entrust upon the “uninformed“ workforce. “Life without Taxes” gives each of us the opportunity to embrace their economic future and the future of the country we all work so hard to support – an opportunity to hold our leaders to account and to demand change.
We can have a strong Australia where taxation is not a crushing burden, but seen as fair and equal, and set at the very minimum required to propel Australia towards it’s full economic potential. A goal that is more vital than ever as global economic challenges mount around us daily. It’s possible, it’s proven, and it’s within the grasp of all Australians.
